Do not launch new browser when entering forum from main page

This kind of messes up the tabs in IE7. It didn't used to work this way. Now I have all of my time-wastin' sites in one window, and the GZ250 is in a whole other instantiation of IE7. Me no likey.

Or, give me a link I can stick in my "links" that goes straight to forum, no home page...

Re: Do not launch new browser when entering forum from main page

Thanks Dupo, but throughout my career I have always lived by the credo: go with the herd!!! I'm IE7 all the way, soon to be IE8. If everyone switches over to Chrome next week, I'll be right there with them.

I have Macs, can program in Informix, and have been regaled with tales of the superior directory management of the Banyan Vines Network OS, but I've always made the most money putting my stuff on and my time into the most prevalent platforms in the market, warts and all.

Except for Vista. What a piece of shit.

Seriously, FF destroys IE in compatibility and usability. The herd is definitely leaning that way.

MS lost a lot of their browser market when they declined an update for nearly 2 full years, thinking they were untouchable. Firefox extensions (add-ons now) are an app collector's wet dream, and you can migrate back and forth between Mac and PC effortlessly with it.

Besides, if you REALLY went with the herd, you'd be riding a Harley, or a litre supersport.

Re: Do not launch new browser when entering forum from main page

Dude, you are up late again. Tsk tsk. Or early? Anyway, I don't know what herds you tend, but I likes my customers to be large, impersonal corporations with fat IT budgets for me to feed on. We don't see a lot of FF around these parts. Many are still on IE6. But like I said, soon as I do, I'll whore myself out on whatever flavor they fancy.

Re the Harley - don't count it out. At the risk of lot of indignant flames, I bought the GZ strictly to learn on. This forum has convinced me it might be wise to hang onto it, but my original plan was longer distance touring and I just don't see that happening on the GZ (yes, I know the other Patrick rode a GZ from KY to AK. I also know people than can bench 325, but it don't mean I'm going to.)

However, my "herd" mentality mostly extends to computers and Toyota Camrys. The "other bike" thing is a lot tougher - Harley's do seem to dominate and not entirely due to the marketing. I will be seeking counsel here when I'm ready to go bigger. I'm looking forward to that "Holy crap!" feeling Dupo described astride his Honda. (I hope it was a Honda anyway...)

Don't count THAT out quite yet either. With some seat improvement and a good windshield, the little devil is quite capable of long distance "casual" riding.

Of course, if you want to cruise the Interstates and get somewhere in a hurry and/or you can scrape up ~ $15-20,000 for a "real" touring bike, then that's a different story.

$15-20,000 for a cruiser is crazy. This is why i will probably never leave the honda stable. $7-9k for brand new and average $4k used for a great non-harley cruiser.

I don't think i'll ever own a harley unless one falls from the sky into my driveway.

I didn't say "cruiser". What's the price of a fully decked out ST-1300 ?? or a Gold Wing ??
That's what I consider a touring bike. A similar Harley is, of course, even more expensive.
