carb adjustment
well, guys. you won't believe this one. I removed the cap from the pilot/mixture screw. is was already at exactly 2.25 turns out. i ran it to 2.5 turns... i figured it might be a tad rich, but we'll see. even with a drained carb. primed up. fired and idled cold with no choke. currently 73f outside. not bad. we'll see where it goes from here.

That is a good starting point.The main objective is to get the smoothest idle when warm, by adjusting with bike running.Turning the screw in(lean)or out(rich) to achieve the highest & smoothest idle.

Hey b1, how hard was that to do on a scale of say, 1-10 (10 being the hardest?)
The Rest Of You Guys: Do we have any step by step pictures or videos of this operation? This is one I might invest in learning.

i'm sure i'll have her bike taken apart again soon... lol..
i'll take a couple of pics and post them up on what i did. its really easy. i used a larger bit than was necessary, but it worked fine. steps for what i did: leave fuel selector in "ON" remove vaccum line from fuel sel remove fuel line from carb... (rag for slight spillage) remove the two 10mm bolts at rear of tank... and slide it off (towards rear) remove the two screws from the throttle cable mounting tab on the (r) side of carb loosen both clamps on the carb (airbox and intake) slowly rotate the carb counter clockwise (as viewed from rear) this gives access to both top and bottom of carb without having to remove the airbox or the air tube. |
