New to GZ250 and to Forum

Hello and thank you for this Suzuki GZ250 Forum!
I'm new to the GZ250 and I'll give all the details.

I'm 70 years old, have been riding motorcycles for over 50 years.
My first bike was a brand new, off the showroom floor, 1963 Honda 150 Dream!
I've owned just about every make and model during those 50 plus years of riding.
My current bike is a 2005 Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 Custom.

So, why the GZ250?
My girlfriend and I do a lot of two-up riding on the Harley. She recently said..."I want my own bike some day". She has never been at the controls of a motorcycle. She is some 25 years younger than I am (I'm a lucky OLD GUY)
To get her comfortable alone on two wheels, I told her we would look for something in the 250cc and below class of bikes.
Last week we were in Tucson, AZ and guess what was in the bed of the pick-up when we left Tucson? Yup, a 2009 GZ250 with only 1200 miles on the odometer...!
We'll start her training over the next few days...

Welcome Thateldoo. We are always glad to have a new member.

My wife started riding a GZ back in 2006. At age 60 she had never ridden a bike but was an accomplished driver in a wide variety of vehicles. This is what she politely informed me. "You are not an instructor" She was right of course. All I could do was teach her my bad habits. As one old guy to another you should have your girlfriend attend a proper riding course. Also pick up a copy of Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough. Your sweetie will thank you.
