Life Expectancy

Just about to turn 24K on my 2009 GZ. Noticed that I am about at the end of my chain adjustment. This means I'm getting 12K miles per chain. I also noticed that both my front and rear sprockets STILL do not need replacement.

Question: What is the norm as to wear intervals on these items? What kind of mileage are you all (ya'll if you are from Texas)getting on these components.

Also, while I am at it, how about clutch plates? Just curious.

I don't remember everything from back in the day, but some of the original members were sporting 30,000-40,000 miles before big ticket items were needing repairs.

I feel like lots of people are scared off when a bike gets over 10,000-15,000 miles but I really feel like they're just getting broken in at that point.

Really cool point about the sprockets though. I wouldn't have guessed that.

I think a lot of it is dependent on how one rides and how well maintained they have kept their bikes. This is probably my last bike in a riding history over 57 years and the one thing I learned is that a well maintained bike will do you right.

Whether you do your own maintenance or have a shop take care of it, fix the little things before they become big things. Just my $0.02 worth.
