Re: Tag-o-rama Missed Connections & Discussion
Ah, I have never really been to that side of Arkansas, I am from southeast Arkansas (Monticello specifically) lived in north Arkansas (eureka springs) been to fort smith to visit my sister, now live on the west side, drove through that side of Arkansas to go into Tennessee, Lived in Jacksonville for a while, (which is more central Arkansas) but never really "Been" anywhere in that part of the state, guess I need to conquer that side next.

Re: Tag-o-rama Missed Connections & Discussion
Stopped by the Chattanooga Choo Choo Station this morning after breakfast and snapped a few shots of this old historic facility. Many of you probably remember the old song "Chattanooga Choo Choo" that the Glenn Miller Orchestra made famous, well, this is the place although I don't think there was ever a specific train named that. If you are "into" trains, then Chattanooga, Tennessee might be an interesting stop for you to make sometime. This station is located downtown and the old main building seen here is now a restaurant, and you can actually stay in the pullman cars overnight, it's part of the hotel complex. There's an outstanding model train display that the local Model RR association has here in one of the buildings that is built to pretty accurate detail of the local area including the trains. You can also visit the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum just a few miles away where many restored steam engines and old timey cars are on display, and they even offer a train ride that makes a round trip on their lines down to historic Chickamauga Georgia, where you can spend some time walking around downtown Chickamauga and see some historic Civil War sites and then ride the train back to the station in Chattanooga all on a fully restored steam engine powered train and cars.

Re: Tag-o-rama Missed Connections & Discussion
Anyone with young boys (under 10) should know who Thomas the Tank Engine is. Well, there is a life-size Thomas that tours around the country giving rides. I took my son to Chattanooga a few years ago to ride Thomas. The train went backwards for 10 minutes and then forward for 10 minutes - not even a loop! But Adam was thrilled.
BTW - I'm happy to see that I'm no longer a Newbie. Can't say I'm thrilled about being a Squid. How long does that last?

Can't say I'm thrilled about being a Squid. How long does that last? One way to get past this, is to make a donation to the forum to help support it, then you become a "Sponsor" and everybody benefits from the site, just a thought. |
