The Passat is a highly rated car wherever you go. You have the comfort of a car, the utility of a caravan and great economy as a bonus.

yup! Although just today my blinkers are sounding crazy when i turned them off, although the lights are not blinking. It must be the switch or blinkers mechanism... there goes another 50 €...

Sounds like the flasher (blinker mechanism) is gone.

Re: What Spring ??

Funny, you see a lot of German cars here (USA) - VW, Audi, Mercedes etc. but you never see a French car like Citroen, Peugeot, or Renault. Come to think of it, also Lancia, Alfa and Fiat you never see here.

PS weather in MD has not been too bad recently, I rode like two hundred miles last month  more than ever in February!

It has a lot to do with market share and emissions. Not enough profit to make a few cars for North America and get them certified as emission free or low emission vehicles.

Our Citroen C3 has a low emission. No major problems (apart from an injector broke down, last year) in 9 years. Nearly 90,000 Km on the clock, & running fine. It's 1400 cc, great fuel economy, cheap local taxes & insurance, carries 5 people plus luggage, cruises happily at 80MPH+ on the autopista. All in all there's nothing I can complain of, about the car.

Seems strange that you can't get them in America, yet The Fonz led the advertising campaign on English TV.

Re: What Spring ??

The C3 and cars similar to it may not be big enough or powerful enough for North Americans. We tend to do things in excess compared to the rest of the world. Why be sensible when you can own a large gas guzzling monster to drive across town. Been there done that. Still doing it a bit. Why do I own a 4 liter V-6 Ranger 4x4 to drive on hardtop to the store ??
