The people of NY will survive and show their spirit to rebuild the city. I think that goes for everyone affected by Sandy. The Human Spirit is an amazing thing. RR, you are one of the many unsung heros who goes out there and makes a difference.

Re: Hurricane Sandy

Thanks WW, im very proud of my brothers and sisters of the DSNY. Thanksgiving was our first day off since Sandy struck. I actually had 4 more days off then everyone else becaused my dad passed away on November 6th. I couldnt wait to get back out there and help again, wierd feeling as i was burying my dad, but i had to help my city, im still isomewhat in shock, so much loss. The media actually said that the DSNY are the unsung heroes of this storm and i couldnt agree more, we got 5 stars on this cleanup. People were cheering us and everything. What a great feeling, i've never felt this before, but it must come to an end. We did our job and we did it well.

Re: Hurricane Sandy

Oh my. So sorry for your loss RR. Loosing a parent is very hard and goes against everything we are accustomed to in our lives. One day Dad is there and the next he's gone. Hope you had lots of time to build happy memories with your Dad. They are priceless.
