So i got it started! drained the oil box, drained the carb bowl, turned petcock to RES and took out the air filter, pulled on the gas and it fired up...it stayed runnin as long as i held the throttle or did NOT reinstall the gas covered air filter...what should i do next?

The first thing is put fuel in the tank. Apparently you're so low it won't pickup fuel in the run position. Also put in a new air filter.

Its totally full, just put 93 w seafoam in it.

Thumbs Up Need help. GZ250 will not start!

Sorry it took so long to get back. Glad to hear you got it going. Agree with mole 2. New air cleaner. I would pull petcock and check the filters in it as well. When you get a chance, I would check the valve adjustment as well. They tighten up and cause alot of problems. When I checked mine, the exhaust had no clearance at all. Glad I checked when I did. Run seafoam thru gas tank on regular basis. Will Keep you and your bike happy. Enjoy the GZ.

Thumbs Up Need help. GZ250 will not start!

The GZ will run on 87. No need to buy higher. This will save some money.

The petcock doesn't have an ON setting. It's either RUN, PRI or RES.

Thanks. Il get a new air filter and oil filter, and check the petcock also. i do know when i put it on reserve, gas does not come out.

Wups! sorry, forgot to say that the bike was off. the fuel filter is full when its on ON or PRIME

You know that fuel won't flow from the "RUN" or "RES" settings on the petcock unless there is engine vacuum, right?
