That is most definitely your problem. The switch is sticking after the kick stand is down.
There are tons of posts on that issue on the forum. Do a diligent search and be sure to update us here when the problem is resolved.

Any luck with cleaning / checking the kickstand switch ? I'm pretty sure I'm having the same issue.

A weak or partially discharged battery would cause the starter and relay to click and not turn over the engine. A short or bad kill switch would prevent any juice from getting to the starter. If your bike is just dead when you try to start it instead of clicking, then you have a bad switch or intermittent connection somewhere and you have to find it.
Kickstand, battery connections, clutch switch, something is dirty or loose. Go and find it and you will solve your problem.
And just to make sure - you are pulling in the clutch, have it in neutral, have the sidestand up, Run/Off switch in Run, etc.,etc., when you try and start it? Sometimes those little details are forgotten.

Just noticed..........I said that the side stand relay was above the side stand. What I should have written was side stand "switch". the relay is under the seat. :blush:

To be honest, I haven't tried yet and the issue doesnt' seem to be reoccuring any longer. :??: In fact, at one point, my speedo light wasn't turning on and now it does! :techy:

A few weeks back, I had this idea I was going to make this bike some sort of bobber. LOL. I'm so dumb. So I removed the saddle bags and the bag brackets. I removed the seat to see what would be next. Took out the compartment that holds the tools/manual. Detached the seat lock, etc. Took a look over things. Nothing big. ....other than I decided, mmmm, maybe this isn't a task for me try. And so I put everything back together....

....suddenly now the speedo light is working and I don't seem to be having the "unresponsive issue" on short trips. I don't know if I jostled something back into proper position (likely not). Or if the warmer weather is better for the bike (likely not). Or if I'm just being blessed from above right now (I'm going with that option).
