Also, and this may sound stupid. but i hate the plasticy marauder logo on the tank, i much prefer the "S" on the US and Canadian bikes I have seen. I wounder if its posible to swap them out?
I know it would probably involve a respray, but a good friend of mine sprays cars and bikes for a living and im sure id get mates rates on a small job like that.
A little rust can be removed with a SOS pad, than protect with a coat of wax.The marauder emblems come on the Canadian & European models. You should be able to remove them without damaging the paint.A little dental floss will between the tank and emblem will cut the double sided tape without damaging the paint.than you can remove the residue with some WD-40.

Re: New to the forum- and looking for advice buying 2nd hand

just thought id let everyone know, I picked up my 2001 marauder.
Im now a proud owner
Im still learning to drive a bike, but i managed to take it for a spin around a parking lot right beside where its being stored untill im fully qualified.

it needs a good solid cleaning, anyone know whats the best stuff to use to cean the surface rust up? I seen from an earlier post an SOS pad was mentioned...what is that exactly?

Im thinking of getting a paint job done on this thing at some point, ill be doing some photoshop work to try pick a color but for the moment the black will suit me fine.

first thing im doing is removing the marauder emblem from the tank, not sure why but i cant stand it.

Id love to get some S logos, or the standard suzuki wording logo, but cant seem to find ones specificly for the gz250, is the raised gel logos the best bet?

anyway, when i get a chance to clean it up ill lash some photos up.

It is a very fine steel wool soap pad.You could also use 0000 steel wool & a cleaner of your choice. The "s" logo off any Suzuki bike or Suzuki car should meet your needs.

At your height you could easily upgrade to a S-40 Suzuki in time. Very much like a GZ but 60 lbs heavier and 650 cc single cylinder. Have a 4 ft 9 in friend who rides one and she is just extra careful where she stops.

I buddy of mine said you can (for the non-painted metal parts that are worn) get some chrome polish, and use tin / aluminum foil to buff it out. Takes a lot of elbow grease.
