Re: new guy
Hello and welcome aboard. We changed our stock GZ mirrors, cause they just did not seem to go out or high enough for me. I actually took the ones off my old Kawasaki Eliminator and put them on the GZ. They were 10mm I believe. They are also metal and go up and out far enough to see very easy what is behind you. Hope you enjoy your GZ. GZBrian

Are you getting a LOUD bang from the exhaust......or just a little popping on deceleration ?? A little popping is most often caused by an exhaust leak or vacume leak at the carb. And just exactly what is leaking and how much ??.....and when, running or not running ?? Does your bike have any modifications to the exhaust or intake ?? You can't "adjust the fuel flow" but if something is not right, you can fix it. Tell us more.

Re: new guy
i get a little pop on deceleration and it looks like fuel is possibly leaking from the bowl . i used to have a sport bike and hated it and i always had fuel leakage problems . and i also have a slight hesitation when accelerating . my bike is a 1999 and the jerk i bought it from said he did a full rebuild on the carb and a bunch of other stuff . i think he just doctored up the bike to sell it . i love the bike and it looks good and all in all runs well . i just dont want to get stuck with it i have a habit of breaking down with bikes . it kinda sux !!!!!!!dont want it to happen with this one .

Let's start simple. Is your petcock in the proper position,It should be in "run" or "res" position. If It is In the "prime" position(pointing down) It will leak & flood. :2tup:  |

Even if there is a leak, it's probably a different problem than your other complaints. Those sound like a lean condition or an exhaust leak. Things to check: Stock air filter is in place and in good condition (no holes). Air box around filter has no holes.....including the plug on the drain hose being in place. Rubber boots on both sides of carb are tight and not cracked. Exhaust pipes are not leaking where they connect to the engine.....and that the stock muffler is in place and not "damaged". (If it appears that the pipes are loose, be VERY careful trying to tighten them; broken studs are common for an amateur mechanic and are expensive to fix.) AND if all of that stuff is OK, run some Berrymans B12 Chemtool through with a tankful of gas. If the PO was a putz, you might need shop help. Quote:
Thinking about what you want to do and paying attention to what is on the screen is usually helpful !! It would be easier to answer specific questions but you can't be too bad off if you have managed to start a thread and make a follow up post. Discussions of bike trouble would be more apporpriate in a different sub-forum but that's a minor thing.

Re: new guy
thanks guys for all the help and support . and i think you may be right . i think my past experience is just making me paranoid . i looked everything over today and found a leak in the gasket going into the head and the carb float bowl was leaking . bought new parts and its all good . i took it out for a nice long ride and all is well . had a great time. the bike was used in a driving school so it has never even seen a highway or probably hasent even been out of third gear its a 1999 and has 1000 miles on it . did a full tune up and it runs like a top . i had it up to just about 80 mph . thats perfect . no tickets and besides the roads in brooklyn are crap so where the heck am i goin . have a nice day guys and be safe .
