That's mostly BS.

The extra sound projects toward the BACK of the bike. Only a tiny portion of bike accidents are riders being hit from behind.....and most of those are while stopped.
The extra noise does virtually nothing to alert drivers ahead or to the sides.

Loud pipes risk rights.

Me neither.

And I just like loud pipes, it's only good for annoying the neighbors.

Nobody asked so I will. What is wrong with the exhaust system you have on the bike now ?

Oops. See reply #3.

Didn't get an answer, however.

when i brought my bike home from the person i got it from, after changing the oil and whatnot, i had it running and was adjusting the idle... i gave it a few revs, and my boyfriend was getting blasted with rust bits flying out of the exhaust... also after revving it, it backfires and pops upon deceleration... so im assuming the internal components of the exhaust are probably rotten apart...

I think that is a reasonable assumption.
Good for you.

Re: Exhaust??

Becca I wouldn't worry too much about grunge in the muffler. What ever blows is just surface rust and some other unneeded crap. I would suggest checking to make sure the weep hole for the exhaust system is clear. it is a very small hole just ahead of the muffler that allows moisture to seep out to prevent rusted out pipes. Maybe some one will post a pic for you to see. I would but we no longer have a GZ to model.

Re: Exhaust??

That hole is clear, at first I thought it was an exhaust leak but then realized that it was the weep hole

Re: Exhaust??

I would just ride it and wait to see if the muffler blows it's guts out. Probably not so just ride and enjoy the bike.
