You're right. The reason we wear gear is to protect us in case of a fall but I don't think anyone ever wants to really test their stuff.

Very cool. I would like the info on the ebay auction actually. I think that trunk may be just what I need. I like the jacket too. Not sure if I could pull off those colors; good for visibility for sure!

I usually go with Red/Black but this looked so bright and I already had the helmet from racing Formula Vee back in the late 90s so I matched it all up.

If you search through his listings you will also see an extra-large sized trunk for $98. The medium/large size is just what I needed and doesn't look unnatural on the bike.

Nice looking stuff. That jacket looks like it will let the wind blow through on a hot summer day.

Any problem/tricks mounting that box to the luggage rack? I don't suppose it would fit on a rack with a sissy bar.

What site did you get the jacket from and how was the sizing/fit?

If you have a rack with a sissy bar, you could probably make it work by sliding the mount way towards the end of the rack. I wouldn't feel safe doing that. Personally, I just hacked the backrest with a hacksaw.

The size I ordered was medium and it's a nudge on the loose side. It looked like a small would be too little; I have long arms.

I'm confused, you mean you hacked the backrest on the trunk? Do you have any pictures of that? Also, if you get a chance could you post some pictures of the whole bike with the trunk on it?

Thanks again for posting this. I think I may get the same trunk and jacket. You don't recommend the gloves right?

Would any of you guys recommend waterproof gloves for general use or is it better to have 1 pair for general use and 1 pair for rain?

Sorry if there was any confusion.

I took a hacksaw and cut away the factory backrest(sissybar) that comes with the rear rack/sissy bar combo. Now all that is left is the rack. The trunk comes with a backrest pad. So if anyone wanted to ride along, they would still have something to lean against and I have plenty of room to open the trunk lid without having to hit the sissybar rest, because it no longer exists.

The decision on cutting the backrest off is totally yours. If you do it, you'll have to plug the opening left in the pipe so it won't rust.

I'll get you a total photo later this afternoon.

Don't forget -- the sissy bar in this case was integral with the rack. He sawed the sissy bar off, but the rack remained. The trunk was then mounted to the rack. Not wanting the sissy bar is fine, but you'll still need something to which to mount the trunk.
