Yep! Been there, done that on an old Toyota Celica I had years ago. Finished the oil change, got everything buttoned up (Except the dipstick as I was about to discover) and started her up. Everything was OK for a few moments. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Re: Do you check the oil with bike running or off
One time when I changed oil in the GZ I tried to start it after pouring in the oil. No go. Not even a hiccup. Lynda pointed out that I had not screwed in the oil filler cap. Screwed it in and away we go. Don't know if all GZs would act this way but it avoided spewing oil.

Are you trying to tell us that there is some kind of "safety" on the oil filler cap that will prevent it from starting if the cap is off ?? :??: I think it is MUCH more likely that you just got lucky and one of the OTHER safety switches was preventing it from starting........and after screwing on the cap, you did it right the second time.

Re: Do you check the oil with bike running or off
I knew I would get a rise out of some one. No safeties involved. All I can think of is the engine was no longer "sealed" and the air and fuel got compromised. That's my story and Lynda is my witness.
