Re: Hi, I got a used gz. Does it use standard or metric tools

I have a 17mm and it is way too big so it must be more around the 12-14 range. That is the only big size i own so you are on your own from here, but a 17mm is WAY too big.

Re: Hi, I got a used gz. Does it use standard or metric tools

Would a 12 or 14 really be that much bigger than a 10mm that hole looks to be about 4x the size of that bit. i can take my standard size socket wrench and stick it in the hole on my bike and that's not big enough.

try this, before you go to buy one take a piece of paper and try and trace the out line of that hole on the paper. when you get to the store you can try to match up the drawing wit the tool. that would probably give you a good reference to witch one is the correct size.

That actually sounds like a pretty good idea. Even if i halve to buy 2 or 3 of them to get the right size i can return the ones that don't fit. That sounds like it will take away most of the guessing game.

Or you could just take a tape measure and measure the size of the opening, that should get you pretty close. And I thought the same thing about the 12-14mm thing..... until I went out there and tried a 17mm, and it was huge in comparision.

Has anyone considered that the size of that "hole" might have changed over the model years ??
That happens sometimes and they don't bother to mention it in the shop manuals.

My 05 takes a 12 mm hex, I just put calipers on to check it.

Re: Hi, I got a used gz. Does it use standard or metric tools

I just bought a 12-14-17 hex set the did not have single ones over 10mm. the 12mm fits perfect

My POS tool kit must have the hex bits labeled wrong. A 10mm hex at the tool store was much bigger that what the claim is a 10mm hex in my tool kit..

12mm takes off your front axle I already got it figured out but thank You burkbuilds for checking I appreciate it

My bike is a 03, I Accidentally put in the wrong year on the profile page
