Indeed, that is a good part of the problem. Are they "summer" type; mesh or vented ?? Do they have any armor or reinforcement; knees not at the right place is another consideration. Any chance you could scare up a model number or name?

Consider a pair of leather overpants - great protection from wind and cold, relatively easy on and off, and ER - can be cut to length with a scissors. Might be a solution for cold weather riding. I got a nice pair from Leatherup.com for about $75. No armor, but better abrasion protection than jeans or any cloth mesh pants.

Easy, have good and bad news. Can't find a particular model # on the pants but I can describe them a fair bit. Keep in mind these are a women's clothing item but I am sure there is a men's counterpart. Or just search out whichever fits best. Anyway here goes. Scotchgard outer shell Cordura that is breathable. Large front pockets. Inner liner for cooler riding. These are not a mesh pant but should breath fairly well. Padded hips and adjustable knee armor. Lynda's knee armor is at the top position. She likes the fit and the alterations were not difficult for the seamstress. The leg side zipper starts a few inches from the bottom and goes all the way up to the hip. Think i will look at the Olympia site for more info.

Checked out Olympia's site. Ladies Pro Max over pant and Mens Ranger 2 pants seem to be quite similar. Probably best if you can do a test fit if there is a dealer handy. Try them on and go sit on a bike in the showroom.

Got it.
Alas, those appear to be worse than most as they don't even offer a "short" option. My 36" waist comes with a 35 inseam. I don't think I want to gamble with being able to cut off 7-8 inches........and that is almost guaranteed to have the knee pads down about shin guard level.
