You have to be careful to because (ethanol) is a water attractant, and it degrades faster then just straight gasoline. Just what we needed huh. :cuss:

Oh, Easy beat me on the comparison between European (91=...) and USA (...=87) octane ratings differences.
That said, ethanol has an OH-(oxygen and hydrogen) group, just like the previous additive MTBE, and gasoline without "oxygenate" is purely carbon and hydrogen (=the stuff that burns). Gasoline with ethanol is essentially and literally watered down, or partially burned, gasoline. The scam is publicly defended by saying that gasoline with ethanol delivers less CO2. Which is true, because now oxygen is part of the volume that you pay for.

Take a look at this site for a bunch of info on octane rating for gasoline. This is probably more than anyone wants to know. Interesting stuff.
