My old helmet had the D ring, but my new one doesn't, so it appears that not all helmets have them.

I have a rf1000 shoie helmet & it fits on the two arms under the seat no problem

Here is one option:
But I prefer these: Sorry about that last one being slightly out of focus. It consists of a plastic ratchet type fastener, with a quick release tab. I have to say I would prefer a D ring, but they do not appear to be available in my part of the country.

My old helmet had the ratchet fastener, but it also had a D ring half way down the strap.
