It's a long time since I rode in the UK. MOTs weren't required for bikes then. Is it the same as cars? Third birthday, then every year? Here in Spain, for cars it's fourth birthday, then every two years up to tenth birthday, then every year after that, but with bikes it's fourth birthday, then every two years forever.

A Sylvania SilverStar bulb will give you a bit better lighting but be fore warned their life expectancy is a little shorter with the vibes from the GZ. However they will seemingly last forever in a cage or a bike with little vibration.
