When I tightened it I used my fingers until snug and then I used a wrench for 1/8 of a turn. In the spring I'll learn if I did it well.

That should be fine.Often people make the mistake of tighten the plug too much and stripping the threads.

Stripped threads are all too common. We sometimes forget that most engine and case parts of a bike are made of aluminum and easily strip. Gone are the days of a cast iron chevy small block and threads that were nearly impossible to strip out.

I would have not gotten married. I would have bought all the Microsoft and Apple stock I could afford and then some. I would have... Ohhhhhh...you mean motorcycles.

Actually nothing. I tried to follow everything the instructors told me and, having been a mechanic for 15 years, I know how to wrench so I don't strip screw holes. Maybe I would have bought a better helmet as my first. But when I hit the ground it did it's job and it got retired.

webbikeworld has some good info on different helmets and the benefits of each. Proper fit is paramount in all helmets. Head and a matching helmet shape are the ideal combo.
I have had a series of HJC helmets and was pretty much satisfied with their fit. THEN I tried on a Shoei Multitech modular. OMG, what a difference in fit and comfort. That is my next helmet when the HJC modular is retired. Dang the cost, I'm worth it.
