Chain Oil

Reading the service manual I found this information (P 2-12):

"After cleaning and drying the chain, oil it with a heavyweight
engine oil.

CAUTION
Do not use any oil sold commercially as "drive
chain oil", this type of oil can such oil can damage
the "0"-rings (or seals)."

According to this , using my regular chain oil (Motul C4) I might damage the chain ????

Any comments ?

I wouldn't worry to much about it. I have used WD40 Chain cleaner and WD40 Chain lube for most of the life of the bike. I got close to 18,000 miles out of the OEM chain. When it got too stretched out, I replaced it. No big deal. Everyone uses something different. My son uses WD40 to clean his chain and Dupont Teflon lubricant. That seems to work well too.
