Thumbs Up berryman chem dip'd my carb :D

Pulled and tore down the carb. Dipped and cleaned everything metal.
Hopefully it runs as good as it looks. It hasn't been cleaned since the motor let go and sprayed it in motor oil. Total mess :/

And because I'm trying to escape a NAG!....

I did my 600 mile oil change and through another filter at it.
C&L'd the throttle cables.
Cleaned the engine.
Pulled the chain guard and scraped the greasy packed crap underneath.
C&L'd the chain.
Adjusted the chain.
Replaced the master link as it was loose.
Attempted further repair of exhaust leak underneath the heat shield.
Retorqued head and cyl bolts.
etc etc etc

It's like another wife, isn't it? We recently had some rain in Las Vegas and my bike has been screaming at me to get it clean again. I may have to take part of Easter Sunday to take care of it so I can get some sleep. Or maybe I'mjust anal.

Had a little adventure with this carb.
Went for a long ride Monday and the bike started flooding. Had to push it about 6 miles home.
That night I immeadiately thought about how the float was set WAY off spec according to the service
manual and I had to reset it quite a bit.
So I popped the carb and checked. WAY flooding.
Apparently the previous owner or his mechanic new the float was heavy and compensated for it.
I screwed that up setting it as the manual said.
I put it back 'eyeball guess' to what it was and today I had a beautiful running machine.
From before dipping the carb to fixing the float issue......
I have much improved cold start and run. Stable idle. And my full power seems to be back.

Now my only problem is that engine rap'n sound.

Is there a chance the "rap" may be piston slap? Just a shot in the dark seeing as you have done so much to track the noise and it is still there.

It does sound like bad piston slap.
But this is with the new piston cylinder kit from china.
Waiting on another set of gaskets to open it back up.
