UNI or Bikemaster pod filters anyone

Anyone used/ using one of these? Good, bad, indifferent?

Uni is great but it really sucks oiling for the first time,I got that shit everywhere and it was thick and smelled like vodka.

I use a pod filter. It works fine.

I don't know if there's much mechanical difference between the two. The main thing I think would be the look.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong about that.

I've used lots of UNI filters over the years. They're exactly what they should be. I like 'em.

Dumb question before i take airbox off: what's the intake size needed? 52mm, 54?

Go back through the Jetting thread - I believe it's 54, but that's just a feeling. The thread has the correct info in it.

I think I even mentioned a UNI part number in there somewhere.

You're going to be more satisfied with the throaty sound of not having an airbox than you will with the actual performance increase of the bike. Sometime the extra sound will make you think you're going faster than you are and, personally, that's ok.

Just remember - Main jet first, then mid, then dial in the pilot.
With the main you are looking for best acceleration under full throttle, not stumbles or flat spots.
With the Mid (needle) you want to eliminate flat spots and choose the setting that gives the most fluid power delivery.
Pilot should equal a smooth idle and quick start up. Once you find those little niches, you'll be a happy camper.

You can do a lot of work with the card still on the bike, just turn it sideways.

Be careful of the cap over the needle, as it's plastic and can break.
Don't strip your screws and keep a small pair of vice grips on hand in case you do.

Awesome.

If y'all like, keep an eye out Sunday (Father's Day) and couple days after... my wife asked me what I wanted for Father's Day, I said "one good day to work on bike without any other distractions (we have a 3 yr old and a 6 week old)! I will be hopefully be posting positive results, or a fury of "help me help me"'s...

2.5 turns on the pilot
