Non bolt on sissy bar

I looked around and couldn't find any info so I figure I'd ask. I am looking for information/ideas on how to make a sissybar for my gz, the frame has been lopped off about two inches past the rear shock top bolts. I was thinking maybe use steel pipe or rebar and bend it to slide in the frame tubes. Anybody have any thoughts on the matter?

Good luck with rebar. It is very heavy and mean stuff to bend. A lighter pipe or tubing of some sort would be better. Small diameter exhaust pipe might be good and a muffler shop could bend it just right for you. One stop shopping for a custom look.
They could also weld tabs for a back pad of something else that you may want later.

I'm not sure if I'd need pads I intend to use it more for a rack to mount a auxiliary fuel cell to boost the bike from 2.2 to 7.2. I will kick over a few stones tomorrow.

OMG. Surely you don't want to sit on a bike that long without getting off and stretching a bit. A tidy little 1.5/2.0 gallon auxiliary would be plenty.
The word from serious long distance riders will tell you to get off the bike after 1.5 hours at most. You will be much relaxed and awake after a stretch and a 5 minute break. Be it a gas stop, smoke break, coffee or picture time.
The best trip Lynda and I had took 13 days and we only rode 550 miles.

Yeah I bet on my rickety metal seat pan my legs would be jello before too long. I think I will shoot for 2.5 gallons.

I'd get some lead pipe from a hardware store, find a pipe bender, bend your shape and weld it to the end of your frame, Whammo Bamo! Sissy bar.

I was thinking use a bung to go In eather side like frame/sb. I would think lead would be too soft to hold any weight. Was thinking about a couple small L bars and could just cut and bend. Got a shopping list togather think I'm going to try steel first and hit it with a torch. Just re harden it at stress points when it fits.

I will be sure to snap a few,I'm not allowed to park the bike in the living room anymore so I'm stuck on hold until the weather improves.
