Re: does this tank make my bike look stupid?

I've talked about pink. My former boss, a Scotsman, called it a "Poof Chariot" and yes, it's offensive.

Other than the current state of disassembly and the silly tank, I rode it in this configuration from Jacksonville to Marion, NC. That's 500 miles one way. I ain't doing that again! So an around town bike it will always be.

Re: does this tank make my bike look stupid?

I haven't made any trips longer than 30 miles on mine and even at that point I'm ready for a little break. I can't imagine 500. nice commuter bike though.

Re: does this tank make my bike look stupid?

Lynda rode her GZ on a 3000+ mile trip and thoroughly enjoyed the ride. A trip of that distance will test your metal and prove the bike's abilities. However a rider will also find the bike's limitations too. The power is not there for long grades and headwinds which tax the GZ. An 800 V-twin solved that problem quite nicely. Her second trip was much quicker overall.

Rode my Harley to Oklahoma City and back. Much further, but still a more pleasant ride than 500 on the geezer

Shit, even the group ride through Cheaha State park many moons ago left me sunburned and my rectum was vibrating for days.

The most surprising thing was how much my mileage varied. 70+ Going up, and in the mid 50s coming back. But that's only a guess based off Google maps miles. No speedo on the bike. Discomfort has the pleasant side effect of getting to me before I can run out of gas.

Might have been a down hill ride one way and slightly uphill the other way. Couple that with a slight head wind and there goes the great gas mileage.
