'Cut' bike to add factory accessories?
I was going to add factory saddlebags and rear rack to my Honda NC700X; I even priced the brackets at the dealership today. But when researching the installation a few minutes ago I found that I would have to cut and remove some of the plastic in the fender area to install the brackets. It seems odd that factory accessories would require me to cut into my bike. Now I will look at Givi and other brands, I am not going to cut my new bike.

A lot of bikes are manufactured to adhere to a certain, and I consider picky, look. When the focus is on achieving a particular look, things like practical access points are an after thought.
There must be some usable mounting points somewhere under the rear fender or whatever, but they're covered up with overpriced plastic because that just looks better when it's rolling down the road. Motorcycle makers are funny. |

Re: 'Cut' bike to add factory accessories?
I finally found a site that shows instructions for installing the saddlebag brackets and the other accessories for the Honda NC700 series motorcycles. After looking at that, I might cut my motorcycle after all to install brackets and saddlebags. It does look pretty involved, but I would be able to do it if I took my time. Here is the site if anyone is interested (I am the only one on this forum with an NC700X as far as I know). http://www.nc700.co.uk/index.php?/topic ... tructions/
