Max rim size for gz250?
I searched and could only come up with tire size recommendations for the factory rims.
What I want to do is bob the rear of my 250 so I can run a 150/90-15 under a custom rear fender. And if possible, I'd like to sneak a 17 or 18" front wheel under the front fender (I will swap fenders or relocate the factory fender if necessary). Also, on a 17 or 18" rim, what's the diameter equivalent of a 110/90-16 to fit said rim? I've always been a fan of a larger front wheel with a skinny tire and a smaller rim with a fat tire on the back, but am a bit concerned it won't look good on a bobber/ratbike style setup. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Re: Max rim size for gz250?
I installed a Savage front wheel, 19" on my GZ before I chopped it all up. Calliper did not line up perfectly and I had to grind down the mounts on the fork tube to make it fit. Ran this setup for awhile before tearing it apart this winter to hardtail it, etc. I ditched the front fender and rear fenders.
This is how it sat. download/file.php?id=1814&mode=view |

Nice, I like that look. I was hoping there was something similar that would work. Now I'm even more excited than I was before.
Do you have pics of the front mount for the break? I'd like to see how much is entailed in making this work.

Re: Max rim size for gz250?
Unfortunately, I lost most of the pics I took when I switched phones. But I pretty much just eyeballed it. When I did it, the front wheel wasn't centered. So by that, I was able to gauge how much to shave off, which btw is easier to do with the fork off, laying flat, and with plenty of light. I had to do mine a couple times til I got it right. good thing is the wheel I got came with good rubber and rotor in great condition. The diameter fit perfectly, just the off-set was what you had to accommodate.
Let me know if you need pointers, I'll try to help you out as much as possible. Ken |

Getting the wheel centered wasn't he problem. Gettin the rotor centered in he caliper was a huge problem. The hub of he savage didn't line up perfectly until I shaved it off.

He's not active anymore. Best bet is to PM him and hope it goes to his e-mail.
