The S50 has never been reported to have that problem.
And as far as the frequency of having to relube that on the M, as far as I have read, it's just maybe once - to be sure it was done right. That seemed to be a factory installation defect rather than a design flaw - some of the M's weren't properly lubed from the outset and that's why the drive shaft failed, some at 30,000 miles, some at less.
WW - did you ever sell Linda's M50?

WW - did you ever sell Linda's M50?
The V-Stars had a run from the factory that weren't lubricated properly also. Like you said some would last longer than others. Remove the rear wheel and lube the splines. Really a simple fix.

Not yet. But I imagine there will be more folks looking when Spring really settles in. I get a few scammers and twits with lowball offers but I just ignore them.
