Re: So I checked out a used GZ for the first time...

Star City in Roanoke offered me a brand new 2009 GZ 250 for $2995. and 0% interest. Only hitch was no choice of colors or something like that. And that was only a couple of weeks ago. Also offered a used 500 (?40) single cyl at $1800 with 30 day warranty. Check your closest dealer, you may find a great deal.

You're lucky. When I insisted on a GZ, they had to find me one on one of the other islands (Gran Canaria) & have it shipped over. There wasn't one to be had on our island (Tenerife).

In Minneapolis right now we've got a dealer offering some dirt cheap prices on brand NEW Johnny Pag's. A 2011 Chopper is going for $2,999; A 2011 Barhog (with mod upgraded exhaust and mini-apes) for $2,999 and a 2009 Prostreet for $1,999. They're selling them at their cost just to get rid of them.

Guess this is off topic a bit, but I was just amazed at the prices for those bikes since they are, in fact, brand new. I've been tempted to go checkou the Barhog, but it just doesn't make sense to sell the GZ for a Pag if I'm not getting a serious increase in cc's (which would be the point for me to get a new bike).
