Noobie here!

Hi...my name is Annie and I joined you nice bunch of folks today.
I just bought a used GZ250 yesterday and it is all set to go,but I have to have the proper permits first.I am waiting for my brother to come back from a trip so he can take the bike to my house.
The bike is a 2000,with...200 miles on it!! Seriously!! And it's teal,which is one of my favorite colors.
About me: I am a Boomer,turning 60 in September.I have been retired after 33 years of Civil Service for 6 years now,and decided I would treat myself to a bike.I had bikes when I was in my 20's,but I'm pretty sure I will re-learn how to ride pretty quickly.I will take the written test,then practice with my brother as my supervisor,then take the road test asap after that.
I live in west Michigan,on the Big Lake,and have a lot of quiet roads here where I can ride and relax.
I have 4 dogs,two cats and 4 parrots.I have a Wrangler as well,which uses a lot of gas,but I need it to take the dogs to the dog park,and for the winters here in Mi. The bike will help cut down on my gas usage for sure!!
My interests are photography,golf,birding,and anything related to helping animals.
I am looking forward to meeting new people here who share my love of biking.

Thanks for the welcome!
My bike was drained of all its fluids,and the carb and anything else that needed attention was cleaned.My moto shop sold it for an elderly gentleman who drove around with the bike attached to its carrier on his truck,so it was barely driven. The guys at the shop told me that I had to treat it like a brand new bike and break it in for 500 more miles.No prob.
I just wish my brother would come back from the boonies up north and bring me my bike!!! :cuss:

Welcome, my wife just got her license back in March and I bought her a 2006 GZ250 with 91 miles on it.
If I was you I would check into a MSF course (check with dealership), they can teach you the basics of riding in a weekend and if the laws are the same in Mi. as they are in Tn. all you have to do is take your certificate where you completed the class and they will add the M/C endorsement. The class here in Tn was $185 but if you drop your bike you can easily do $200 worth of damage and when you take the class most will furnish a bike for you. I have to take the written test first.I have been studying the pamphlet I got at the Sec.of State office until I am dizzy! Then,once I pass that,after my brother supervises me for a while,I take the road test at a college near me.I can ride the bike to the testing place as long as my brother escorts me. It costs about 25 bucks. After that,I can ride on my own.I will be riding only on local streets,along the Big Lake shoreline,and over to the golf course,which is right on the lake.All pretty scenery,and having lived here 59 years,except for college,I am familiar with every road and street in the little town I live in,and all along the lake north of me.I will not be taking my bike out on the highway because it is not necessary that I do so. And I really don't want to!
I will just be content to pack up my camera gear,ride 'til I find a pretty spot,then spend the day shooting photos.Or ride to the golf course,meet my golf partner who keeps my clubs in his car,and spend the day golfing.
I have a very laid-back life,luckily,and being able to ride a motorcycle again after all these years will be a real treat.I needed something new in my life,and getting a bike seems to be it!
My brother is back and I should have my bike here tomorrow!!! WooHoo!!!!!
