Quick Chain Adjustment Question

Hi Everyone!

I'm doing my chain adjustment. I have a motorcycle jack.

Can I do the chain adjustment with the bike lifted off the ground or should I do it with the bike on its tripod so that the shocks are engaged?

Just a minor, potentially nit-picky question.

Thanks!

Re: Quick Chain Adjustment Question

Final adjustment should be done with the rear tire on the ground. The more the shocks are compressed the tighter the chain gets. That why you need 1/2" to 9/16" free play,to allow for swing arm movement.
