For you bike riders out there - 2 new ideas

Go to this site and look at these 2 new ideas to light you up for night riding. Maybe could be adapted to motorcycles too.

http://www.gizmag.com/two-groups-develo ... dium=email

Notice in the first video, the guy is wearing dark clothes, no reflectors or lights on the bike. How smart is that? He's almost invisible, but the wheels light up nicely.
The second one just lights up the road in front of the bike, neat idea to see what's in front of you, like potholes, etc.

another fancy stuff for bicycles, looks cool. cant say if its a useful thing or a distraction on the road. the forward light is too dim to really illuminate anything and at motorcycle speed before it gets illuminated you are on it.

Interesting innovation but I wouldn't go for that at all on my bike if I was still pedal pushing. The best in my opinion is the tried and true flashing LED's that fit on front and rear. Add a couple more to sides and be visible . Always on even when you stop at a stop sign, red traffic light or in an alley. You can move them to another bike too. Bonus there. Visible during the day as I have noticed during my trips up and down the roads. 4 rechargeable batteries and you are good for years at less cost.

Yeah, you need front and back visibility, but with those rim lights at least you wouldn't get hit from the side. And wear reflective clothing at night.

No kidding, the side view is quite impressive.

Wouldn't it just be easier to attach some LEDs to the spokes? That was you would see this constant whirring blur of light, no matter what speed.

Schwalb makes bicycle tires with a reflective white stripe on the side. I've been using those for a few years, at least in 20" size.
