Speedometer cable maintenance ?
Just wondering if the speedometer cable needs any regular maintenance / lubing. :??:
Can't find anything in the manual, except putting grease in the speedometer gearbox when reassembling the front wheel. Nothing at "speedometer removal and disassembly". Anyway, it still works.

Re: Speedometer cable maintenance ?
I have always cleaned and lubed my cables the following way:I clean the cable by spraying WD-40 in the cable till it comes out the other end.I follow this with chain wax.I use PJ1,It stays liquid long enough to flow through the cable, than jells to stay put & lubricate. Also does not attract dirt.I have always cleaned & lubricated my cables in this way & never had a cable fail.I do them once a year,in the spring.

I'm not arguing with your technique, Blaine, but have you actually done this to the speedo cable?

Re: Speedometer cable maintenance ?
A cable and a rod. Kinky idea. You said the cable doesn't move much which makes me think it should always be well lubed. Reason being any dirt or grung will have an easier time to set up in a more solid state to hang up the cable action. Using a bit of Dextron will provide cleaning and lubing.
