Camera Mounting Test....^^;

Hello, there.
This weekend project, mount digital camera on the bike..

1. I wanted to have some good photos which shows the ROAD VIEW from my bike touring.
2. I have cheap tripod which rarely using currently, especially while I'm on the bike riding.
3. I have power supply which can remove my worry about camera battery during the touring.
4. Let's make some mounting... ha ha ha

The mouting gets ugly as me ha ha ha,
however, I'm going to modify some outter shells of them.
So that I can hide wires and power-supplier for the better looking final mouting ...

Anyway, photos and videos came out resonable qualities.
Some performance update are required for the final output.

At Saturday, I made some test riding; used camera setting for the best quilities for both still and video caputers.
And preview outputs were very satisfactory....
Um, when I checked the photos/videos at home, my SD Card was fried.
SD Memory Card was gone for all....
I tried to recorver them, no vail.

So, Sunday (today), I went to local electronic shop (Fry's Electornics) and bought couple of them and did test ride again.
This time, I set to photo qualities for reqular; small size.

Many of them are Out-Of-Focus, I need to some better technique when taking photos while on the saddle.
Mouting works resonably, but shaking alot >>> need to fix later on.
and so on,, on....

Here are photos and videos taken while I was on the saddle on the road.
Couple of photos were taken at the speed over 80 >> out-of-focus.
Aha, need to fix these too.
1. Moisture go in the lens .... ha ha ha (I may need new camera ....um...)
2. Dust get stick on the lens after riding some foggy cost line road.

Anyway, here are some test results to share with you.
I could take photos or videos while I was on the saddle now.....
Over 160 photos and couple of videos. (not a good qualities most of them...)
Next touring, I may have some my Road View photos/videos, which I really missed alot after bike touring.

These are Video Link. (on the slide show, it should play videos automatically, but it's not.???)
As original video size is 320x240, you may need to view size as Original Size while you click "Google Video" button at the bottom of right view pane....
Next time, let me try bigger and better quality...

Update: Found that above Slide Show Direct link will play Videos Automatically when slide show plays... ha ha ha (embedid slide show does not play videos automatically ???)

They actually look pretty decent to me.

How do you take the picture (click the "shutter")?

Hi, Mr. Alan.
Yes, most of them are One Click >>> which created Out-Of-Focus photos.
My camera's focusing time is little bit longer than others, I guess.
So, next time I should take patient when click the shutter, need Double Pressing for Shutter...

Actually, I may create some Remote Control for the shutter and power buttons of my camera.
1. Mechanicall Control, using simple push button (magnetic soloneid??)
2. Or, using Servo Motor with RF control switch, little bit expensive for me, but easy to build.
3. Or, Voice Control using my mini-umpc computer >> problem >>> my camera does not have Bloothooth... or RF receiver... ha ha ha ... just imagine...
4. Or, just using My Fingers.... for ..... (felt little danger when I was speeding..)

Thanks.

Re: Camera Mounting Test....^^;

Yeah, therein lies the rub. My older film cameras (remember those?) have manual, cable remotes for opening the shutter. Do they have those for digitals?

I always thought a mouth control should exist. Click it with your tongue! Voice control makes more sense, but it's too loud on the strat for that to work. I have driven many a stretch of highway with my knees - maybe a knee switch?

On a similar subject, I ride with my garage door opener permanently mounted in my jacket. Am I the only one? Got tired of getting off the Beast to pull it inside. Maybe you could rig one of those to click the photo?

As far as the delay on your shutter, have you tried using the sports/action setting on your camera? That should allow instant shooting without the delay, but you will lose resolution.

Hi, there Mr. Alan.
My door openner is alway on my jacket too... ha ha ha.
By the way, today I bought Camera Shutter Release Cable (I lost my old long cable... don't remember where it is now... ha ha ha)
And bought SMALL camera mounter (10$) from same camera store.
This small mounter looks much better than my old tripod setup.. (hope works better)
I want to try tomorrow morning for work with this new mounter.

The Shutter Release Cable I bought is little bit shoter than I needed.
And feels little bit uncomportable to use while I was on the seat???? don't know why???
And camera store sells the shutter release cable ADAPTER for the small digital camera.
The price was 30 $ >>>> forget it I want to build it for myself.... ha ha ha
The store sales men also recommended to build one if I could. (The Law of Demand and Supply ???)
I went to the Home Depot, and bought some stuffs to build one... may be next weekend project.
