Extraterrestrial Highway, aka Area 51

Today's ride report...
Extraterrestrial Highway, aka Area 51.

A lot of stroies.... ha ha ha
Total 860 Miles in 24 hours (one day).
Actually, I had more miles to be corvered, but as you know plan changes.

Um..
Let me give you the most important happenings' story about it.

1. Tried again, Night Ride and went bad.....
The way back home at night about 11 PM,
I met really strong wind tunnel, at the 15 highway start from Bakers.
Can't believe it, it was too strong that I felt riding on the Ice Link.
Fortunately, found a Rest Area.

2. Sleeping inside Rest Room.... ha ha ha
At the Rest Area, there is banches that corvers wind.
So, I lay down and rest about 30 min.
But I couldn't keep warm over that chilly wind.
Ha ha ha, at this Rest Area, there are two MEN's Room.
I closed one of them and put Road Work Orange Cones in front of the door.
Ha ha ha, I got my own free Rest Room.
I slept about 2 hours.....
Waiting for the wind calms, but didn't look it would calm down.

3. Pack and go ride against wind....
The way to the Bastow, I could keep 60 miles about 10 miles distance.
And wind's condition was little bit better than before.
No, it got more stong wind from Desert.
I had to slow donw 20 mph... but still shaking and skidding.
It's dengerours situation for me, fortunately, there were not much traffic at 4 AM.
Exit highway and found small closed gas station.
After parked bike, I tried to find some hide place...

4. Slept behind garbage can... ha ha ha
At the dark, I couldn't find around environment that I could be hidden.
None....
Only about 3 feet gabage can was the one where I can hid myself behind.
I rested about 3 hours behind it. ha ha ha
During the resting, a Man is approched to me and asked if O.K.
He said that he lives cross the street and saw me and felt I was having troubles.
I asked about the wind if it will goes down at the morning.
He said, sometimes........... ha ha ha ah
I couldn't stand still under this wind, how can I ride my bike....
Many thought......

5. About 8 AM, wind power was still strong and active
Gas station opened, asked a cup of coffee and about wind.
He said that he could not sure when the wind calm down.
Um,,,,,,
About 30 min later, an old HD biker came to gas staion.
I asked about how you can ride under this wind????
He suggested that GO HIGH SPEED..............

6. I did high speed riding under this wind, and back home safely.
Um, I knew that I may have less troubles under high wind situation, if I go little more speedier.
But I couldn't do at that strong wind, I thought that it would go very bad if I speeding....
I had to do over 80 miles per hour to break wind power..............

7. Dense FOG at the San Bernadino Valley.
Slow down, and safe ride.....

These description seems nothing, but to me, it's live or not situations..........
Believe it or not...

About Area 51.
um...
If you see the photos, those will tell you.
I missed a couple of signs, like "Restricted Area" and "Speed Limit Warp 7" and may be couple.
I got found Black Mail Box (painted white now), which is "lonest mail box in the world",
and "fastest mail box in the workd" >> goes to out of earth.

Road condition: Excelent and really seneric, no cages orelse bikers.
I only had couple of cars during the 48 miles from Alamo to Rachel.
Speed Limit: 70 mph >>>>>>>>>

At the Rachel, there is a only restaurant, try "Alien Sandwitch" if you visted.
I couldn't finish the ET highway from Rachel, many reasons.
1. time is too late
2. there are no gas station in 150 miles.
3. I wanted to go home.... ha ha ha

Important, there are really few gas stations around Area 51.
So, if you planed to visit it, watch out for you GAS specially.

BTW, these are the photos to share with you....

Busy! You're taking recreational riding to a new extreme! Did you check the CHP highway conditions link on their website? They will many times warn about high winds. You're a nut! I enjoyed reading your report though. How far can you go on a tank of gas?

Yup, you're officially insane. I like your focus and resourcefulness. Hopefully, your next ride will be more "walking on sunshine" and less "Bataan Death March."

Get yourself a portable tent and a sleeping bag.

Hi, there.
YES, I'll do it.
Actually, I prepared to stay at motel at the Alamo.
And bought and packed, extra under-ware, tire repair kits, and 12v air pumps...and etc..
Except the sleeping bag and tent that I wanted more research before buying......
I'm not that stupid, but stupid enough someway... complusive decision maker ha ha ha...
I didn't want to ride this kind at all, honestly, believe me.
Thanks all for the comments.

Hi, Mr. Moedad.
It is about 5 Gal tank including about 1 gallon reserve.
For my experiences, it goes 45-55 miles per gallon.
If I do speed go to 50 mpg, or under 70 mph it goes up to 55 mgp.
And with city commuting, it goes down to 45 mpg.
So, it will go about 200 -250 per tank.
It has digital gas meter, but not that accurate some times.
I always re-fill at about 150 - 180 trip meter.
I have plan to buy 32 oz. metal gas can for the long trip like this weekend riding.
Last Friday, I was looking one when I bought Air Pump at the Auto-Zone or Military Surplus Store.
But they did not have it.
Some Sports Store or Camp stores might have it, if you know about it let me know.
Thanks

Don't take the smileys incorrectly. I think what you are/have been doing is awesome. I'm really kind of jealous actually.

Keep it up, but still be very careful - rest stop bathrooms are notoriously bad places.

And CA/Mojave Desert rest stop bathrooms are near the top of that list.

That's a great range! I'm also envious of your gas guage - my Nighthawk doesn't have one. I haven't ridden it to reserve yet. I've gone 160 miles and had about a gallon left. My tank is 4.8 including a .8 reserve. Next bike I get will have a gas guage.

I didn't know about it, next time I'll do more careful at the rest area.
Um....
Anyway, it was one of the un-forgettable memory for me, ha ha ha

Thanks again.
