How often the valves be adjusted?

I have 8000 miles on my GZ250 (yr 2005). The valves were adjusted once at the break in by the dealer. Never did again. So how often these need adjustment. Ocassionally I hear a tick tick sound near the engine and someone told me valves need adjustment.

Does the fuel injector cleaner helps clean the valves?

Thanks for suggetions.

If you don't have an owners manual, you should get one!

Mine says inspect every 3000 miles or 15 months.
My guess is that if not ridden HARD, one could probably get away with double that.
You are even past DOUBLE the recommended interval so, yes, I think you shoud have them checked.

FI/Carb cleaner does little or nothing for the valves.
The valve seats are generally self cleaning anyway.
If you have valves "dirty" enough to cause performance problems, then something else is causing them to get that way.
