First real motorcycle

Hello. My name is Joann and I just bought a GZ250 to replace my Honda Ruckus scooter. I wanted something that would do the speed limit and the GZ was the only bike that I really liked. I sat on many bikes including Sportsters, but, being 5'1", I just didn't feel comfortable on them. Either they were too tall at the seat or the foot controls were too far forward for me to reach comfortably.

Now the fun part, getting used to shifting and having separate brakes. My scooter had front and rear brakes linked. And it was a centrifugal clutch so I didn't have to shift. Oh well, I already love the little bike and already have saddlebags on order.

Welcome. The more the merrier!

What part of the world are you in?

If you don't have them already, you probably want the saddlebag brackets, to keep them off of the rear tire.

I live in Utah. Hoping to get the bike broke in soon so I can ride some of the canyons around my house. Don't want to be pushing the bike too hard before it is properly broke in.

Anyone know where I can find a digital tach for my bike? Something like this would be ideal http://www.trailtech.net/85-600.html then I could have everything in one display unit. Tach, speeedo, and a clock. Only problem is, it says the temp sensor is a radiator hose insert, but we don't have radiators. Wonder if it would work anyways.

the Vector or Verpor kit are a little too advanced for out little machine.
For around $60 you can get a plain jane digitial tach at Denniskirk.com

Couldn't find a digital tach for under $100 bucks on Dennis Kirk. I don't think I need to spend that much for a small digital tach. I will keep looking. Thank you. Maybe even a small analog would be okay, but I want a digital one.

No self respecting motor head would be caught dead with a "digital" tach.
Gotta see that needle whipping around to be a "real" tach.

All kidding aside, you have to concentrate slightly more for the numbers on a digital display to "register" in your brain. With an analog display, the relative position on the dial is enough after a while........and the needle display doesn't wash out in bright sunlight.

I got my analog 1 7/8" tach from Denniskirk for $78.
It's made by drag specialties.
