2006 gz250 - wrong oil!
Hey everyone. Last august (2020) my dad bought me a 2006 suzuki gz260 as my first bike. Near the end of the month he filled the oil, and about a week later told me not to turn it on because he had put the wrong oil in. I wasn't able to do a motorcycle riding course till october and by then the weather was bad so i haven't turned it on at all. Im reading the posts on how to change the oil/filter and i think i can manage - what I'm wondering about is do I still need to turn on the engine to warm up the oil before I drain it? Or is that bad for the bike. Also I haven't been able to buy a cover, its got some grime on it from the elements, is there anything beyond the obvious I should know about cleaning it up and getting it good to use regularly?

While it's a good idea and common practice, warming up the engine before changing the oil isn't mandatory. It will take longer to drain if cold but will do no harm to your engine.
Have you downloaded the manual yet? If not I strongly advise that you do that before anything else. Here's the link. https://app.box.com/s/aaokv6nqyhq0hsw71req |
