trouble starting up.
So, as of lately, my GZ250 is being a bitch on start-up. It takes a more than a few turns for it to start up, and once it does, I have to keep the throttle on it (and the choke at full) until it warms up in order to keep it from dying. When it does finally spark up, it does a slow chug-chug-chug until its running. I've know idea what it could be that needs adjusting (and it's kinda hard to describe). But once she's running, she's running until I'm where I need to be so that's good. Anything I can do to check/adjust this start-up issue? The carb is clean, and so's the air filter. Just had a new petcock put on it too.

Re: trouble starting up.
Did the problem starting coincide with the petcock install? There are two vac hoses up there that may have been installed in reverse. I've done it before. It's easy to get wrong.
Certain of a clean carb? How about battery charge? Good and healthy? |

Re: trouble starting up.
It's happened since before, but after the installation it seems different so I'll have to check the hoses. Battery is new and healthy, just got a new one very recently. Same as the spark plug. It just sounds likes it is not getting enough fuel to get it going and maintaining (and yes there is plenty of gas). Something with the intake? or maybe the fuel/air adjustment screw?

Re: trouble starting up.
I may agree with Raul.
Trace your choke cable and make sure it's operating. If it's fine once it's warm, then it's not going to be any of the minor adjustments, like mixture or idle speed, that need to be worried about. Login or Register to Remove Ads |
