Outdoor Bike Cover

I will be taking a trip down to Key West next month. I am looking for a "GOOD" outdoor cover for the overnights. I have a windshield. I don't want one of the cheap, plastic ones. Any ideas ?? If so, Please state make and model numbers

Thanks in advance, JIM

Re: Outdoor Bike Cover

Check Wally World for a bike cover. Cheap enough and not too bulky when rolled up.

Re: Outdoor Bike Cover

High end. Sure. Check out Dowco covers. Heat resistant and waterproof products. My cover for the Vstrom has a zipper running length ways on the rear half of the cover for easy access to bags and stuff.
I doubt I would ever take it on a trip because it is bulky and hard to pack.
My suggestion would be to check out covers online to gain some info and then go personally check a few shops if possible.

Re: Outdoor Bike Cover

I have used a cheap ($20) nylon Wal Mart cover for 7 months. It has been through a few rain showers and still doesn't leak. Because it is cheap it is thin, so rolls into a small size. Fits into its own small bag that I can bungee to my bike, or fits in my backpack. The more expensive ones will be better made and fit better, but will be somewhat bulkier. If mine lasts through the winter, I will have gotten my money's worth.

Re: Outdoor Bike Cover

UPDATE, I bought a Dowco Outdoor cover, size LARGE. Fits the bike with the windshield, has room for saddle bags or back rest. Very well made. Packs up little bigger than the nylon ones, big really not a problem.

Be Safe JIM

Re: Outdoor Bike Cover

You must have a talent for folding stuff. Mine always looked like a poorly folded circus tent.

Re: Outdoor Bike Cover

I heard of a recommendation to buy at Walmart an outdoor grill cover - they come in 3 sizes or widths, for different sized grills = lengths for different sized bikes, are pretty heavy duty, and are inexpensive at something like $12 or so, and make good bike covers. They will last a helluva lot longer than those cheapo $12 Chinese nylon covers but probably fold up to a larger package. Measure the length of your bike before you go to the store so you get the right size. These are probably good for storage at home unless you have the room in a saddlebag for it folded up when traveling.
