Exhaust...
Bought a 03 GZ250 and the exhaust is extremely loud. It seems that the end of the exhaust on the inside has been sawzalled so that there is no suppressor or anything on the inside. And to top it all off, they exhaust has quite a few holes drilled into it so it is louder. I am not a fan of loud exhausts and so my question is, what can I do to make it a little less deafening. aside from buying a new exhaust. Thanks for any help.

Re: Exhaust...
Best thing would be to replace it with the stock exhaust.

Re: Exhaust...
I had a similar scenario a few years ago. I hated the sound of the gutted exhaust so bad that I spend $600 and bought a new factory system. You can do that, but it's crazy expensive.
I would recommend keeping the headers and replacing the factory muffler with a universal one form JC Whitney or any other number of places. Hell, even a baffled cone muffler from E-bay. You can find the ones to fit the chinese bikes for around $50. (They aren't crap, by the way. I have a chinese "performance" muffler on my bike and it's a nice chromed stainless system.) Then just maybe re-jet a little bit to make sure your mixture is right and you'll have a much better sounding exhaust note without having spent $1,000,000. It won't be factory, but it will be much better than homemade with hole punched in it. |
