Deer Alerts?
Do these work?
http://www.thehomesecuritysuperstore.co ... GAW-p=2282 How do you prove it works if you have not hit a deer. I haven't hit a deer yet without them. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Re: Deer Alerts?
I looked into those about a year ago. The on-line opinions and a study by the University of Wisconsin concluded that they do NOT work. A sheriff's dept put them on their cars and the only time they affected the deer was when they drove into the fields among the deer.
If road noise doesn't affect the deer behavior, why would these? Around here I see a lot of cars with these, and figure that since the deer are used to road noise they would also get used to the noise these things make, if any. Of course the sellers sing the praise of these devices, citing findings by Prof. Weisenheimer of the University of Stockholm (well, something like that). However, I did come across a couple articles where electronic predator sounds were being tested on vehicles. I don't know if there are any of those on the market. HMMM...A motorcycle that roars like a lion or howls like a wolf?

Re: Deer Alerts?
A deer has about the same hearing range as a human. If you can't hear it chances are the dear can't either. And if they could they might come out of the bush for a better look.
