Where to go from here?

I'm not sure were to go from here? I will have around 3G to spend on a bike say mid-summer to late. Do you have any recommendations? Fuel economy is one concern for me. Also not picking one up off the showroom is another. Anything I might want to steer clear of when looking? Share your experience with me.

What gas mileage are you trying to achieve?

What style bike are you interested in?
Mileage is all over the place with bikes so I would settle for a style first and then just pick the most efficient one out there.

My personal favorites are the Ninja 250 and the new CBR250

Something like a Vulcan 500 is a good step up without getting too big. If you can find one. And for 3K.

Re: Where to go from here?

I know what i will do when going up; propably suzuki bigger Marauder (800cc) or Intruder Classic (with fat tyres), or something else if it will suit me Honda shadow 750 is also nice... If thinking of upgrading today, that will be it.

I'm really liking the cruiser style and feel...

Whatever you choose, ride safe and with a great feel of it!

Re: Where to go from here?

I recommended the Vulcan 500, but I have a Shadow Spirit. I guess it depends on how far you want to step up. The Shadow would take a little getting used to as it is heavier and larger than the GZ (I got used to it pretty quick without owning any previous bike). I get about 50 MPG, with about 90% of my riding time being highway speeds. The 745cc engine is smooth and I couldn't do a wheelie if I tried; it is nothing like a souped up sport bike. It can be a little difficult to maneuver in parking lots and other tight spaces. I find the saddle to be comfortable for about 2 hours, then I need to take a 10-15 minute break. A relaxed ride is the best description. But I hope you can find a good one for 3K total cost, unless you are considering title, registration, etc as separate costs.

Also my 2007 has shaft drive, so no chain.

I love my Suzuki S50 - 805c twin, water cooled, 478 lbs, extremely reliable, shaft drive, 55-60 mpg, plenty of power and speed, real nice looking and riding bike, and I'm sure you can get a great one for $3000 or even much less.

To me it appears to be direct competition to the H-D 883 but never really developed a following. Too bad because it is a nicely executed bike with lower weight and some really good mid sized performance. Slap some H-D stickers on it and folks would be all over it.
