Re: Vulcan Saddle bags fit GZ?
How do mounting brackets work? Do the fit all saddle bags or do I need to find ones that fit that specific bag?
Any really cheap suggestions? I've seen saddle bags that just seem to use belts to fasten the bags. Are they easier to install?... Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Re: Vulcan Saddle bags fit GZ?
Usually, saddle bags are joined by a sheet of leather. You just remove the rear seat (2 bolts) throw the bags across the mudguard, then rebolt the seat to hold the bags in place. The brackets are fitted to the two bolts either side of the mudguard, and are fitted to stop the bags falling onto the rear wheel. That's why the ones he's selling won't fit - they're off a different bike. Another thing to beware of is that the GZ's upswept exhaust means that you need bags that won't hit the exhaust pipe. In any case, be prepared to pop rivet or bolt an aluminium plate under the right side bag, to act as a heat shield. :2tup:

Re: Vulcan Saddle bags fit GZ?
After searching the interwebs. Its seems like these are the cheapest saddlebags I could find.
http://www.amazon.com/Leather-Saddlebag ... 247&sr=1-2 $50 seems much cheaper than buying mounting brackets and dealing with all that fun stuff. I really hope I don't need to put a heat shield up >.>... that would be annoying lol... Thanks for the instructions btw. I was wondering how to take the passenger seat off lol... Rear seat removal is a piece of cake. Pull off the drivers seat first just for better viewing of the rear seat front portion. Remove the "1" bolt holding the tail end of the rear seat. Doh.........Now I've forgotten the rest. Either wiggle the seat in a backward motion or unbolt the front end. Gotta be one of the two. |
