I want a police bike
Am I the only one who drools over bikes like the Kawasaki kz1000 police special?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...#ht_1009wt_958 I have to admit, that's my dream bike. I might not really like it if I ever even got on one, but I drool over those pictures. I especially love the red and blue lights, but I'd understand if I had to swap in some amber lenses. I'm not that fond of the Harley police bikes. They look fine, but they cost about $10,000 while I keep seeing Kawasakis for $3500 or less. I don't think the mileage would be that great, but I think it's one of those bikes that cagers actually would be able to see. I'm thinking they get around 45-50 mpg but I might be wrong. Highway mileage, of course. Oh, but I'm reading they only have 2.9 gallons before they go to reserve, at 40mpg, which is about 110 miles. That could be a problem. I'd have to fill up twice a day. Re: I want a police bike
That is a nice bike.I bet it would be comfortable. It states that the red & blue front lights will be replaced with clear ones. The price is quite reasonable too.

Re: I want a police bike
Actually, buying a police bike as a starter bike for guys who want big old cruisers is pretty common practice. You get a well-maintained Harley whatever for a fraction of the cost os the same bike if it were not Police-ified.
They are usually always a little dated mind you, but like 10 years, but for cruising comfort and for something to learn on, there is nothing wrong with it. Go after it! Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Re: I want a police bike
3 or 4 years ago a rider at the local coffee spot showed up on a H-D police unit. Bought it online out of the U.S and had it shipped to the GWN. It was a beautifully maintained bike and ran like a charm. Very impressive and few people raced past him with his orange vest and 3/4 helmet. Funny how that works.

Re: I want a police bike
I love the pic on here somewhere of the Suzuki GZ-like police bike. If I knew how to get my bike painted for cheap I just might do it.
Where did that pic go......... Oh but from what I read, when the police switched to H-D they were suddenly surprised at how hard it was to catch up with lawbreakers. Apparently the KZ1000 flat out moves. :rawk: and... I had to switch browsers to post this. After logging in for the 5th time on Chrome and being sent right back to the log in page, I gave up. |
