New owner / needs service
Hi Folks! Just bought a 2006 GZ250 from a guy down the street. it's been sitting out in the rain with for sale sign for months, so I decided to give it a home. Battery is dead, and he hasn't driven it since early 2010 ( used to see him on it). I'm expecting to have to replace the battery, to get it started... what should carb cleaning/tune cost me? (has only 4,000 miles)

Re: New owner / needs service
Welcome to the club of (mostly) happy GZ250 owners ! :2tup:
New battery: quite likely. MUST charge it before putting it in your bike. Carb cleaning: Probably needed, unless the PO had it run dry. To do it yourself, download the service manual from elsewhere on this site and follow the directions. I never had it done and never did it myself, so I have no idea about the cost. If you have it serviced anyway, have them check the valve gaps as well. Also change oil, clean/lube chain, replace brake fluid (DOT4), check torque at frame bolts etc. I'd give it a service because it needs one by now. Months in the rain and not running, poor thing. And if it has the original tires, it's about time to replace them. I may have forgotten something. Hope you get it on the road soon ! :rawk:
