Owner's Manual and Bar Ends
The person who sold me my bike didn't give me the owner's manual and said they couldn't find it. I found a few on eBay, but most don't say what year they are for. I figured they were all the same, but then I noticed one has a different cover than the other ones. My bike is a 2001...anyone have any suggestions on which one I should be looking for???
I know there are manuals i can download, but I'd rather have a printed copy that I can look through and have on hand. I could print out the downloaded one, but thats a lot of paper and ink and I can't fit it under the seat of the bike anyway. Also, the previous owner's son laid the bike over, didn't do much damage at all, just some scratches from what I can tell, but he did knock off one of the bar end weights. It looks goofy with just one on there, so I took the other side off. I was wondering if anyone knew of a cheap place to get ones that look original? I looked on ebay and they have plenty of aftermarket ones, but I'd rather get original ones as I think it would look nicer. Wouldn't mind getting new grips too if I could find them cheap enough. Re: Owner's Manual and Bar Ends
The bikes are all the same, any manual from 99 up will have the same info.If you are going to buy aftermarket grips, you will have no use for the end weights. They are supposed to suppress some of the vibrations.I took mine off and didn't notice any difference. You will buy aftermarket grips cheaper than buying the original bar weights

Re: Owner's Manual and Bar Ends
Well, ideally I would prefer OG grips and ends...if not, then OG bar ends...not really into the aftermarket stuff. But, I don't want to spend a lot of money on it either.

Re: Owner's Manual and Bar Ends
Try E-Bay or something like it for grips and bar ends. A dealer will be a lot more expensive and supply the same items. Many aftermarket suppliers have similar if not identical bar ends for less too.

Re: Owner's Manual and Bar Ends
Yea, I can agree with that. I would like to protect my bike as much as possible. I found these on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-Slug ... ccessories do you think they would work? They look very similar to the original ones minus the stem that goes into the bar and the hex key bolt rather than the philips head bolt... |

BTW, it says that the diameter of the E-bay bar ends is 28mm. The original bar ends are 32mm diameter. Just sayin'.

Yea, I actually already have the other end off. I almost made that mistake though! I was unscrewing it, and then got to thinking...it CAN'T be THAT easy, plus I had heard the little clinking already, so I just started yanking instead and finally got it out after a few minutes of struggling. Its actually in pretty good shape too! Heavier than I thought. Thanks for that info! I think I am going to go ahead and get them so I have something for now, but keep searching for a better OEM match. Its really awesome how you guys are so willing to help, thanks a bunch! |
