The bike

Since I can't go riding, I'll take some pictures. I bought the bike back in November. It's a 2005.

Re: The bike

Hi there, & welcome to the madhouse.

Noticed that the exhaust seems VERY close to your box. Have you checked for heat damage? You might need to pop rivet a piece of steel plate underneath, like we have to do with the leather saddle bags.

BTW Love the boxes. Much smarter than my cheapo saddlebags.

Yea it's pretty close however it does not touch. Occasionally, I look under the box to see if there is any damage. I'm not sure if it's because of how cold it's been that it hasn't effected it or just that the plastic is resistant to the heat. I took off some soft bags and the bottom of it was melted from where it touched the exhaust pipe. Those bags were longer but held less than these bags do. They have a small lock on them however It's really just for deterrence. I wouldn't leave anything I'm really attached to in them.

To be quite honest I'm not sure. The guy I bought my bike off of gave them to me in a box with the bike. I just decided to put them on to see which i preferred and the hard bags just look way better. I know they came from ebay and were roughly 140 dollars. I'll investigate further and see if I can find out.

Yes, I've seen them factory fitted/colour coded on Oriental GZ clones, over here, but I've never seen them in the bike shops. There are plenty of hard top boxes, but the side boxes all seem to be leather ones in the bike shops. Perhaps they're special order.
