It means that you somehow got liquid gasoline into the cylinder(s) of the engine and it is so rich that it won't fire.

It is ALMOST impossible to actually flood a modern engine......using anything close to "normal" starting proceedures. With a carb like the GZ, either something is broken or the operator did something REALLY dumb.

With a fuel injected engine, something has to be broken because there is nothing the driver can do to cause it.......except maybe pouring gas directly into the intake.

If someone told you your engine was flooded, chances are good that they were wrong.......or something IS broken and needs to be fixed.

Theoretically, trying to start the engine with the choke fully closed/operated/on and continuing to crank it for a LONG time while it is not firing might do it......but with a modern carb, I think even that is a stretch.

How old do "unmodern" carbs need to be? I flooded my '93 Nighthawk once, flooded it good, doing exactly what your theory postulates. :blush: Overcranked with the choke closed. Silver lining - I know better now. :retard:

I think that's plenty new enough to have an enricher rather than a butterfly choke.......but I don't know for sure. That could be a pretty old design.
With a "real" choke, it was pretty easy to flood.

I didn't say I thought it was impossible with an enricher......just unlikely.

Tooki the bike out the shop and they said flooding is when it wont start and I keep turning the key to on and cranking it, making it full of gas
