Trip Odometer Reset

Just got a 2003 GZ250 this past week. This website and forum is GREAT! OK... Here's my question.

The Speedo on my bike has a trip odometer, but no way to reset it. I found a small chrome colored cap on the left side of the spedo that covers a threaded hole. So it appears that mine was manufactured without the trip reset dialer. Does anyone know if I can get the trip odometer reset to work? And if so, how?

Best case: your knob is just broken off.

Worst case: The previous owner has "messed" with it and something is missing inside the speedo.

Who/where did you get it from? Ask them ?????

Failing that, you are probably gonna have to have a dealer look at it .........or "mess" with it yourself.
